How iphone battery, call quality, speakers, resolution, notifications lol iPhone 6 has mono speakers lol terrible touch screen keyboard I used the Priv as my daily driver it's a very fun phone to use have no issue with blackberry phone is performing very well at every task Android Central App on GS6. Posted one-handed via BlackBerry Passport. BlackBerry has done some incredibly clever things with this keyboard, including making it double as a trackpad for easy control over the forms you're typing in and plus for swipe gestures to control autocorrect. The hate this priv gets truly amazes me. Verizon Best Buy Shop: LG, Lenovo, Sony all could invest more in marketing.

Actual plus blackberry 6 vs priv iphone poco

IOS 9 is very nice and very smooth. I love the PKB scrolling and track pad functions. Ha ha, just kidding. Lots of people have switched away from BlackBerry, but now there's a real reason to consider switching back. For example, the keyboard has up to 52 customizable hot-key shortcuts that can do anything from launching apps to performing tasks within apps like, emailing, messaging, calling certain contacts to kick starting gps navigation with one press. The front camera only sucks if you use your face for a colouring book. That's not to say the Priv doesn't take great photos under the right conditions, but compared to the 6s Plus it's clear BlackBerry needs a few more people working on image quality.

As you swipe through content, it appears to curl around the edges, which is very neat. In real life, every day use, the iPhone can get me through two days. Despite every day performance being better on the iPhone, I was still impressed that I sometimes managed more than 5 hours of screen-on time with the PRIV from a full charge.

Overall speed and smoothness is generally good on both phones too. I had a few moments of lag and stutter on the PRIV, but the hexa-core Snapdragon does a pretty good job at rendering most animations.

Having seen how Marshmallow has impacted lower end devices , I predict the BlackBerry will be even better when Android 6. I saw very little delay or frame-rate dropping. There are no two ways about it. I particularly liked the exposure compensation bar on the bottom of the screen that lets you alter brightness levels during shooting.

As light fades, fairly heavy noise and distortion creep in. Although both can take good pictures in daylight, I think the one thing that stood out for me when comparing results was the dynamic range. As a takeaway, both phones have their advantages.

Both are big, fast devices with good battery life and great design. For most consumers, the iPhone is going to be the better option. But, for me, the PRIV is one of the best smartphones ever made.

I am loving the Priv, It is not perfect but is getting better with software updates. Cam Bunton's favorite gear. I've never owned a Blackberry so I'm not used to their physical keyboard but it's a pretty cool phone.

Very interested to fondle this phone too. BB has done a spectacular job from what I can see so far. Durable material, thin bezels, front facing audio, attractive unique look, kept Android basic, but added some real value adds with the KB.

The Priv has me sitting silently in the corner wanting one. Holding to my Note's S-pen as about the only thing keeping me out of that device. But I highly suggest anyone that buys one give the BB keyboard at least 3 days. If it's anything like the BB10 virtual keyboard, then you're definitely going to love it.

You find it hard to use a physical keyboard?? Jokes apart, you must be 17 or what? Because touchscreen phones are hardly here for years, as regular devices. I like your reviews. It may have the features to compete and very well be a good reason to switch back, but the plastic vs metal designs make a vivid picture of how lacking the BBP is in the design department.

Iphone buyers are not prone to be practical in their phone purchases. They want some bling to go with it. I just don't see this as a favorable draw of the style iphone users now expect. Maybe if they are on the fence about switching from iphone to Android, but not "just" because they are old fans of BB.

I don't think iPhone users are a single group of like-minded squishies, and anecdotal though this may be no less than five iPhone users in my immediate social circle bought a Priv already because they missed the BlackBerry feel.

I think if someone is a techie type person, they are more likely to be more practical in their phone purchases. I have people I know that have the iPhone and are tech people who simply know it is going to work and are happy.

So I can see some of those people buying it. Besides, those same friends had a BB before for the same reasons. BUT, I know 10 times as many average non-techie people who have iPhones, and they frown on us lowly Android people.

And I could show them a BBP and it wouldn't change their minds. I am not saying they won't sell some BBP's and I hope they do, I just see a comparison of the iPhone as being unrealistic and there are better phones to spend your time on comparing.

Aluminum is still way over rated when it comes to "premium". Make the slider mechanism out of aluminum and let's see how many drops it can take before it bends and no more sliding happens. Tungsten, titanium, certainly leathers are premium, not aluminum.

The only reason Apple uses Aluminum is to increase their bottom line. Aluminum is readily available, and significantly affordable; despite the advantages of aluminum, it certainly has its disadvantages some are obvious others I leave to the reader to exercise due diligence.

One must be careful to say "something is great" when it's better to say "this thing is better for this intended purpose". On another note, I have attempted using iphone two versions , both bought out right.

But alas, for my company and staff, we hold proprietary data on manufacturing, which I just simply cannot risk. And having been hacked in the past and losing data I wasn't willing to lose, my company has elected to utilize BB10 on localized BES servers.

Although my company will not risk using Android note: We needed an OS that was built from security and on the premise of redundancy and operational integrity in crisis situations, and that was QNX. That being said, we are cheering for the success of the Priv, in hopes BlackBerry will adopt a multi-platform business model, which includes Android, for the general population, and BB10 for data sensitive industries.

My T3 stood up to 14 years of hard use and the slider still works fine. The mechanism out lasted 3 replacement batteries. Depends on the design. Also, I would consider aluminum far more "premium" and durable than plastic or poorly done leather.

I've been through dozens of phones starting way back with the original StarTac, and either the coatings wear off or the bare plastic gets horribly scuffed. I baby my iPhone 5c, and am downright abusive with my M8, but the 5c is scuff and scratch city, while the M8 is unblemished except for a small nick on the bottom.

My wife's M8 which was her exodus from the walled garden has been dropped several times, and still looks like new. Looool since when aluminum became more expensive than carbon fiber? Putting the carbon fiber on the back of the priv is smart Try holding iPhone with no case lol every iPhone year after year is becoming cheap Samsung edge feels fake too.

I say we go back to basic steel drum rims instead of aluminum rims for cars because they're just wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy overrated. Why are aluminum rims better on a car? Because unsprung weight contributes the most to fuel economy and acceleration.

We are talking about phones anyway and not cars. You can like how aluminum feels in you hand, but it's not a premium material. Apple, among others knows that the quickest way to this emotion is first through the sight of something shinny and confirmed by touch as you pick up a cool metal phone.

Then you add in marketing hype, friends opinions, etc etc. It also gets more money. The nice plastic on the BBP may be every bit as solid and even more durable, it just doesn't garner the same money or respect.

Which is why this comparison is over before it started, no matter how good the BBP is in real life use. The BlackBerry Priv hardware is top notch. I've got a feeling that a lot of these negative comments come from people who have never seen the device in person.

The Priv has a certain elegance that you don't find in smartphones today. I know it's subjective but this phone stands out from a pure hardware perspective. People hate on BlackBerry for sport.

Take the name and logo off and place Samsung or Apple on it and people would swear that it's the best thing since sliced bread. The screen is far better then my iphone 6. Can you please explain to me why is Metal more premium than plastic?

Especially if the plastic is of better quality and more durable and sits better in hand. Me too, I guess it is back to Android Police site till next week. So much other stuff happened in the Android world but you wouldn't know it if you depended on new from here.

We published 24 articles today. We wrote more about the new Tag watch than the Priv today, and lots of other Android things. Additionally why comment on an article you are not particularly interested in.

Because people like to bitch and moan. Don't believe me just check any posts on Google plus about anything android related. Russell, the vast silent majority of readers are interested in both the Priv and the Tag watch. Keep doing what you're doing.

The Priv podcast on Friday was especially great btw. Funny how pocketnow was reading through reviews on their podcast crazy how they don't seem to get many review devices from manufacturers and most seemed negative.

But the blackberry and android guys here seemed positive. My biggest issue is the price. Maybe next year I can pick one up cheap. And vicious they are. I honestly think you guys are doing the right thing giving these devices undivided attention while they're hot, whether it's a positive reaction or otherwise.

This level of coverage has nothing to do with the brand, it has everything to do with interest level. Tons of people are interested in blackberry's first android phone. And with good reason.

This is a highly interesting development in the Android mobile space. Tons of people are going to be interested in Samsung's latest flagship. I'd be disappointed if there wasn't a lot of coverage on the S7 for example.

But first world problems, and the entitled pansie boys who create them, now that defines vicious. This is an android site. The priv is an android phone. It is also the newest major android phone out right now. It's also perhaps the most interesting android phone around right now perhaps this year.

Thanks, Holy that thing is expensive hey. Priv Priv Priv i can't hear it anymore even crackberry reads like a device manual now: And I'm being sincere here. Dude, please stop boasting about your Flex I'm probably getting one, so I'm not jealous: Do you have a priv?

If not, how can your flex be blowing it away? In every way so far.. I'm sure i will miss something.. How do you know that? Posted via Android Central App. I rather have all the OEMs you listed that should close up shop to keep existing.

Multiple Moto X, and Droids. Samsung Galaxy "fill in the blank", why? LG never had a good strategy to ruin. And Samsung just has a crazy advertising budget. Asia is bad a marketing and strategy. That seems to be the constant.

Ridiculous how thin they were able to get it. Yeah, a seriously nice piece of engineering. And it has a large battery to boot. Is your 9 year old now doing bend tests on YouTube? Clever comment Posted via Android Central App.

Intelligence would solve your problems. While I disagree a bit with his thought process, his reasoning is sound. Could you list those 35 parts? Why would I give my young child a BB Priv? Lool it's like giving ur wallet to a kid..

A rooted G4 is the best!! As if Android screens don't crack? Not when you drop them from 6 inches up. If you drop any phone it might just break. You have not played with iOS 9 have you. It's far from polished or awesome. I wouldn't go that far.

IOS 9 is very nice and very smooth. Resizing windows in the multi window always leads to app refreshes for both apps Animation speed is slow, I bet it takes over a second to transition from landscape to portrait. Lol I ment Yes the goal is to make people envious.

There is no "correct answer" to this. Spend your money on what makes you happy. How many iPhones have you owned? I just read it out loud making that cool video game voice Posted via Android Central App. I was hoping someone would get it!!!

The cool thing about the PRIV is that you can use any keyboard you want.. Nice try selling it Russell! I just don't see it happening overall. Increase their bottom line? They are worth over billion dollars! They can't be that greedy.

Posted one-handed via BlackBerry Passport. I thought last week was the week of the Priv? Sooooo by your own count we wrote about plenty that weren't Priv related. Lmao Posted via the Android Central App. Lol Posted via the Android Central App.

On the design front, I think for most users, the iPhone is going to appear the better option. Clearly, there are fewer moving parts, and its sturdy aluminum frame is very durable. There are so many wrong ways to do a sliding smartphone.

Getting the sliding mechanism right, making it balanced in hand, and ensuring that it still feels good takes a lot of consideration and thoughtful design. The curved glass on the edges shows BlackBerry still knows how to build good hardware.

With displays, both the phones have their upsides. BlackBerry has equipped its first Android phone with a dual-curved 5. Colors are full of life, and content appears to float on the surface.

There is the tiny issue that whites tend to distort and alter color when looking at them from an acute angle, sometimes appearing yellow or blue. As you swipe through content, it appears to curl around the edges, which is very neat.

In real life, every day use, the iPhone can get me through two days. Originally Posted by Lobwedgephil. Basically retrieving the db value from the OS. My Rogers phone on Classic have 84db. Joao Oliveira , zipro and StutterStep like this.

Man this guy obviously must be bottom man on totem pole. Yep this isn't on the must read topics. Everything in this poor excuse of a comparison has been covered over and over by just about every new writer from all websites.

This is a dead ass topic. The only good iPhone is a jailbroken iPhone. It's the best way - perhaps the only way - to get rid of the horrendous look. Camera, processor and ram should not be part of any comparison between Android and iphone.

It's obvious that apple does very well with less ram, cpu and mega pixels. You forget one very important thing: Wouldn't this make a better video than sitting down and typing this whole article out?

What does AC have against video? Why would you want to watch a video? I'd much rather read, myself. I can read an article in a tenth of the time that it takes me to watch a video. No better phrase to let the reader know of the keen observation and knowledge of the author.

I use a priv as my daily device and so far I haven't had any issues with it. I like the android ecosystem with BlackBerry finesse. I don't know what with all the fuss around apple. I used the Priv as my daily driver it's a very fun phone to use have no issue with this phone is performing very well at every task.

Not much point in talking about the processor if you don't talk about how many steps it takes users to perform basic tasks first I will go by their evaluation. If you just look at the photo score, all the iphones and every android flagship beat the Priv.

It seems to score closer to the devices, but even some of those scored better. The priv isn't even top 15 for photo The Priv is more for enterprise users with its heavy focus on security while the iPhone is more of an AIO device focusing on media.

Really like my Priv. But, I disagree that it is "more" for enterprise users. I play CoC, Seigefall, and others etc The only difference is that it has a keyboard. The Priv is a solid device. Is it the best no. But, the keyboard is actually pretty solid, the camera is really good.

Better in some instances than my Note but worse in others. There are some things that I would improve but overall it is a solid phone. Not saying it's bad for the typical smartphone stuff.

I liked the Priv and it does what other phones do pretty well. Just saying that all the added security stuff and that keyboard mean that it seems to have a focus on enterprise stuff. Doesn't mean it fails to nail the basics.

Priv is a BlackBerry, ios and android manufacturers have never managed to make a phone that's better at the basics than a BlackBerry. I'm referring to calling, texting, instant messaging and emailing.

The priv does everything ios and android does yet it also has a lot of BlackBerry's original strengths and utilizes many of their 44, patents. I don't know many that love theirs like in They just use it..

Because they have it.. They are unaware of any other devices besides Samsung Galaxy S line. Manufacturers need to stop doing press releases to tech sites that tear their phones apart in every little way.

Don't waste your time. Make some clever commercials. A phone a second faster than the other is irrelevant in this day and age. The Priv is a really nice device. Not one commercial that I've seen on TV.

If an OEM wants to sell in massive s then they need to spend billions on marketing. The thing is no one in the Androidsphere has the sort of financial resources that Samsung has. They outmarket everyone else by a huge margin. What id really like to see is Google go all in on the nexus brand with a huge marketing push comparable to Samsung.

They obviously have they resources to make it a household name, but they've never wanted to expand the brand that way because of alienating their hardware partners thats starting to change though. Obviously all they've ever wanted is as many people using google services as possible.

Id just like to see an aggressive marketing push for the nexus brand, which is what we've been seeing lately to an extent. HTC is the only company that doesn't have the financial resources that Samsung has. Pretty everybody else are part of bigger companies that could invest in them if they wanted to.

LG, Lenovo, Sony all could invest more in marketing. They have the money as their companies are much bigger than just mobile unlike HTC. That's what I was going to say. Those companies all make a ton of money on things not mobile.

Huawei is also closing the gap and is now the 3rd largest phone manufacturer in the world - they could have some coin to spend on some serious marketing in the not so distant future. And I agree that these Android manufacturers need to focus on good, clever marketing.

That's what wins the debate, at least here in the States. Most people don't care if your app opens a second quicker on phone A vs. Most people don't care what tech websites have to say about the phone either.

The number one thing these companies need to do is get their phones in as many hands and pockets and purses as possible. How do you do that? Yep Sony around 90B last year, LG around b lenovo 50b. So yea if they wanted to push their phones they have the capital.

Sure they could spend more on marketing. Here's a comparison for you. Yes, that's 40 times what LG netted. So there you have it. They should ban together on an advertising campaign or something. And Android commercial specifically for the phones.

Not the general Android commercial Google put out. I have to setup iPhones for users at work because that's the only platform we currently support for email and I'd be a liar if I said those phones weren't more responsive and smoother than any android.

They're simple phones that anybody can use. They have no bloat that needs to be disabled. Battery life matches and is sometimes better than androids with bigger batteries without tweaking anything.

Again they just work out of the box without any tweaking.

Apple's processors have stepped up in truly significant ways, and as we move into the next year Qualcomm is going to be playing a serious game of catch up to remain competitive. Comparing the cameras on these two phones is a perfect example of why megapixels do not equal quality.

Apple worked hard to ensure the jump from 8MP to 12MP on the iPhone 6s Plus did not result in a decrease in quality from the previous year, and they succeeded. Apple's camera produces more vivid colors and greater detail when zoomed in every time, and unlike competing Android phones there's no manual camera mode on the Priv to make up for a less-than-perfect auto mode.

That's not to say the Priv doesn't take great photos under the right conditions, but compared to the 6s Plus it's clear BlackBerry needs a few more people working on image quality. If you're buying a phone off contract, there's not a huge difference between the iPhone 6s Plus and the BlackBerry Priv.

It's true the Priv also includes a MicroSD card slot for adding as much storage as you want whenever you want, but you still have to pay for that storage separately so ultimately there's just not a significant gap in price between these two phones.

When it's all said and done, the big reason to consider the BlackBerry Priv over the iPhone 6s Plus comes down to the keyboard and the software than goes along with that hardware. BlackBerry has done some incredibly clever things with this keyboard, including making it double as a trackpad for easy control over the forms you're typing in and allowing for swipe gestures to control autocorrect.

There's a lot to like about this keyboard, and there are absolutely still plenty of reasons to consider a physical keyboard over a software keyboard on your smartphone. The choice is nice to have, and not something you can get on an iPhone today.

Both with noteworthy advantages and disadvantages against each other, both in terms of hardware and software. They're also both very cool, and I'd say about equally so, but in kind of a New York vs Los Angeles way - totally different from each other.

On the Android side, I plan to skip the Privs and the Galiaxies of the world and buy a Nexus6p at tax time. What a dumb ass comparison. Arguably iPhone top 3 phones this year compared to the Blackberry Priv?

Is it Possible in BB-Passport? I switched from the 6 plus, but i also changed carriers so that might attribute to the change. I don't have a 6 Plus, but I have a regular iPhone 6 and reception has been about the same.

Maybe slightly better, as it seems to acquire signal quicker after exiting a subway tunnel, but I haven't noticed any difference otherwise. I have both, and my first Priv signal was way worse then iPhone, but I returned that one.

It also gets more money. The nice plastic on the BBP may be every bit as solid and even more durable, it just doesn't garner the same money or respect. Which is why this comparison is over before it started, no matter how good the BBP is in real life use.
